New ideas for the basement ceiling
When one thinks of a basement than the image that comes into your mind is not of a nice and cozy place, rather it is something cold and not very inviting. Therefore many people want to change that about their basement and the right kind of ceiling can improve the overall image of the basement enormously and make it feel a lot warmer. Actually there are just two different types of ceilings that can be used in basements but there are many ways how to decorate them and make them look unique and personal and just how you want them to look like. The two main choices are either a suspended ceiling or a dry walled ceiling.

So a bit more about suspended basement ceilings. The tiles used in these ceilings are extremely good at keeping out the noise which is an important quality if you are remodeling your basement to use it for working or just a place to keep away from the noisy world. Once the ceiling tiles are install it is still easy to access the real ceiling under the tiles which is very important if you have some other wires or pipes running there. More specifically if something should happen that requires you to access those wires and pipes you can just lift the tile away and that is it. If you want to make your suspended ceiling more personal, you can use different colors and pattern tiles or paint something on the regular ones. Basically the suspended ceiling tiles are usually rather light and plain color and the frames where the tiles are laid are rather similar, so basically if you want some other color scheme you can just use some paint to change the look of the ceiling.

To solve the problem of what kind of color scheme you want in you basement you just have to figure out whether you like more contrasting or complimenting colors on the frame and all of the tiles. You could paint the frame something darker and the tiles a bit lighter to bring more attention to them. If you feel that that is not special enough for you and you want something funky than just color each tile in different color. It would be good to plan how you want your ceiling to look like in the end before you just randomly start to paint. Therefore, you could cut out pieces from a graph paper to figure out what kind of colors you want and combine and adjust them to create the perfect pattern that you can then apply to your ceiling. So in the end you will have a ceiling that will look extraordinary and special and also have full access to everything hidden under the ceiling tiles.

If you do not like the suspended ceiling idea than the second basement ceiling idea is to dry wall the ceiling in the basement. There are more opportunities to decorate that ceiling, but the downside is that it is much harder to install and you probably cannot do it on your own and need some help as well as you most probably do not have all the necessary equipment either at home which just means that you have to rent it. Of course once it is done installing than the decorating is also much easier as well as with more opportunities than suspended ceiling. If you also have some pipes and other wires and anything else that you have to be able to access along the ceiling than you either have to incorporate them in the dry walled ceiling or create some kind of access to them.

As we already said, installing a dry walled ceiling is not very easy and you should ask for some help and hire someone. Once you have the installed ceiling in your basement you can start planning decorating it. One of the possibilities is texturing it which means that if you have some kind of textures in other rooms you can make your new ceiling easily match. If that is not the idea for you, you could use trim and decorative tiles. The last touch for the dry walled ceiling is to repaint it, of course you can use whatever color you want, but this will give the ceiling really the final perfect look.
