Which is cheaper for popcorn (acoustic) ceilings?
We want to get rid of our hideous popcorn ceilings. We are going to have them tested for abestos, but either way, is it cheaper to have the ceilings scraped, or have them covered with sheetrock?

If you don't have any major damage like cracking, then the cheapest way is to scrape, sand and retexture. You can apply orange peel, knock down, spanish lace, etc. Drape the walls with thin mil plastic and cover the floors before scraping.
